Fatty liver symptoms

The liver is usually said to be the most important part of the human body as it controls the metabolic activities. The liver is used to act as a detoxifying agent for our body.

Fatty liver diseases can cause permanent damage to the liver and ruin it of performing its usual activities. The fatty liver activities is classified into two types namely alcoholic and non alcoholic. However, there are some cases of fatty liver diseases occurring when the patient has never consumed alcohol even once in his life.
Diabetes and uncontrolled consumption of alcohol are said to be the main cause of fatty liver.
Let us review some of the symptoms:-

  • Nausea

Nausea is nothing but a vomiting sensation. Nausea is usually accompanied by fever. Nausea often causes fatigue and extreme levels can be reached.

  • Vomiting

This is one of the fatty liver symptoms. This symptom usually occurs in infants as well as adults. When extreme vomiting is experienced, it may lead to abdominal cramps. These cramps may cause acute pain in the stomach for a long period of time and it may prolong for a couple of days. It is advisable to see a doctor before the situation gets out of hand.

  • Appetite loss

This is another key symptom of fatty liver. The patient will lose the interest to eat food. As a result of this appetite loss, the body will lose weight. The patient will become weak. Since the bosy is weak, it will be more vulnerable to attacks and thus, one disease leads to another.

  • Eratic weight loss

As seen above, since there is a loss of appetite, the patient will become very weak and gradually his weight will start to decrease. There have been reports of patients losing 10 to 15 kgs of weight due to fatty liver diseases.
Memory lapses and forgetfulness
This is another symptom of fatty liver disease. The brain no longer receives oxygen since oxygen carrying cells are not present in the blood anymore. As a result of this, the brain becomes lazy and so memory lapses and forgetfulness occurs.

  • Pain under the rib cage

This is a chief symptom of fatty liver diseases. The rib cage is a a very important place. When a victim experiences pain under the rib cage, it is said to be acute pain and the patient is more or less diagnosed with fatty liver disease.

  • Dry mouth

Another important symptom of fatty liver disease is the presence of dry mouth. Saliva dries up in the mouth. Then, the mouth will automatically become dry.

  • Fever

Fever is usually accompanied by nausea and headaches. Victims have reported chill also when they experience fever. Fever is further followed by body ache which lasts for a week.

  • Swollen legs and feet

When the liver is damaged, the entire metabolic activities get damaged. As a result of this, feet starts to swell and legs also start to get reddish and swells up.
Thus, the symptoms of fatty liver disease has been reviewed.
