French Riviera beaches are highly popular beaches in Europe comprising seemingly endless stretches of sunny beaches shored by placid waters.

It is the Mediterranean coastline of south eastern corner part of France, running from Menton closer to the Italian border including the towns and cities of Nice, Monaco, Cannes and Antibes in the east and Cassis, Hyeres, Sainte-Maxime, St. Raphael, St. Tropez, Toulon in the west.

This coastline was one among the first modern resorts. During the end of 18th century it began as a winter resort for British upper class. In the middle of 19th century, this became the famous holiday spot for Russian, British and other aristocrats like King Edward VII and Queen Victoria. In the former half of 20th century it was visited by writers and artists including Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Edith Wharton, Aldous Huxley, Somerset Maugham as well as other rich Europeans and Americans. It became one among the popular tourist destination sites after World War II. During the second half of 20th century, it was promoted as a site for mass tourism through exhibitions, trade fairs and business conventions. Many famous personalities such as Brigitte Bardot and Elton John have houses in this region.

French Riviera beaches are considered internationally as one among the most luxurious, expensive and sophisticated destinations around the world with a wide range of things to see and do. The alluring beaches are most enjoyed through sunbathing. You get to see few of the very vibrant cities ranging from Nice with fabulous beaches, old town harbors, decorative churches and art museums to Cannes well known with many of movie celebrities visiting its hotels and nightclubs.
