How much should I weigh
Nowadays the common question on everybody’s lips is how much should I weigh? Hence, the question of how much should I weigh is determined by several important factors. Some of the important factors are age, sex, height, bone density and so on.
Then, there is another important factor called as the body mass index. This is a predefined measure or method which is used to calculate the answer for the question namely as to how much should I weigh. However, it has to be taken into consideration that the body mass index is a little bit faulty at times and it does not take important factors such as muscle mass and waist hip ratio into consideration. The ideal body mass of one person may differ from the ideal body mass of another person depending upon the age, sex, and height and bone density.
Let us explain the body mass index in detail now.
The weight of the body in relation with the height of the body is called as body mass index (BMI). There are two units that are associated with body mass index. They are:-
* Body mass index metric units
This is nothing but the division of the weight of our body in kilograms and the height of our body in centimeters. This is usually considered to be a good measure. Let us consider a small example for this cause.
Let us consider that the weight of the body is 80 kilograms and the height is 1.8 meters.
Hence, 1.8*1.8=3.24 meters.
When 80 is divided by 3.24, it gives 24.69
Hence, the body mass index in the measurements given in the above example is 24.69.
* Imperial units
Another important measure is the imperial unit’s measure. In this, the weight of the body (in pounds) is divided with the height of the body (in inches).
Let us consider a small example for this cause.
The weight of the body is 190 pounds and the height is 6 feet i.e. 72 inches.
72*72=5184
190*703 divided by 5184 gives the body mass index as 25.76
The question of how much should I weigh can be answered below. Health advisers from all over the world agree upon the following points:-
* If the body mass index of a person is less than 18.5, then the person is said to be underweight and the person must consult a necessary health physician and get proper advice to increase the weight.
* When the body mass index is between 18.5 and 25, then it is said to be ideal and the person does not face any health problems usually.
* A person who is having the body mass index between 25 and 30 is said to be very heavy and may even be classified as overweight.
* When a person is having the body mass index over 30, then he or she is said to be obese.
Thus, the question of how much should I weigh can be clarified can reading the above key points.
